The title is in the right hands! After a tough and dramatic final, our boys defeated an excellent “Karađorđe” team from Cleveland 1:0 practically in stoppage time, securing the first Srbijada title in club history!
And this squad possesses such potential that it certainly won’t be their last!
But let’s start from the beginning…
The second, decisive day of Srbijada started with perhaps the toughest match of the entire tournament.
The Toughest Match Isn’t Always Against the Best Opponent
In the quarterfinals, after three opening wins on day one, we met “Crvenka” from Miami. Their players and coaching staff were clearly aware that our squad possessed higher quality and that Dinara was the heavy favorite.
As a result, their strategy from the opening whistle boiled down to protecting a tie, ideally 0:0.
And in the end, they managed to do just that.
The game dragged on, filled with fouls and provocations—led primarily by the opposing goalkeeper, who suffered from a glaring lack of sportsmanship. But alas, we have only ourselves to blame for not putting the match away earlier, having squandered at least 4-5 clear-cut chances during the 60 minutes of regulation.
However, what they couldn’t achieve during open play, Dinara’s players accomplished from the 11-meter spot! After a shaky start and a missed penalty, our boys clawed back thanks to a save by goalkeeper Petriček. Following another miss by Crvenka, Nikolić stepped up to the spot and sealed the Miami team’s fate: 4:3 for Dinara!
A Furious Second Half Against the “United Serbs”
Our semifinal opponent was United Serbian from Milwaukee—an exceptionally well-organized club and a past Srbijada winner.
Their strategy was similar to the one Crvenka deployed in the quarterfinals, aiming—albeit with far more fair play—to disrupt our boys’ rhythm. However, we only saw that movie for the first thirty minutes.
Once our squad broke through the wall in front of the opponent’s goal, everything became easier. The game opened up, allowing Dinara to build several more strong attacks and scoring opportunities, two of which were converted for a 3:0 lead!
Understandably, a slight lapse in concentration followed toward the end, which the Milwaukee team capitalized on to set the final score at 3:1.
Goal scorers for Dinara were Southern (2) and Petković.
The Final Showdown and Dethroning the Champions
That brought us to the trophy clash, where “Karađorđe” from Cleveland awaited us—a heavy favorite and back-to-back champion from Srbijada 2024 and 2025.
In a high-stakes match where every mistake could prove costly, our boys started cautiously while still demonstrating class and controlling the tempo.
In the second half, we went all-in, pushing deep into the opponent’s penalty area, creating chances, and missing—which nearly cost us dearly. Karađorđe sparked two quick counterattacks, but luckily one shot flew just over the crossbar, while the second attempt was tamed by the reliable Petriček.
Our team refused to give up, determined to settle the match before penalties.
Kalezić broke down the left flank, Nikolić down the right, Petković through the middle… Pepi Garcia constantly wove around the opposition penalty area, while Southern arrived a fraction of a second late on a couple of deliveries. Player-coach Vanja Jovović kept pushing the team forward, commanding the attack until the final whistle—and it ultimately paid off…
Following a corner from the right side, Vukašin Bulatović met the ball—his boot turned to gold (!)—and through a scramble in front of the net, the ball found its way into the goal to spark massive celebrations!
Celebration of a Team That Became a Family
Our Dinara boys rushed into each other’s arms, fans lit up colorful flares, and tears of joy streamed down the face of club president Vasil Kolar, who made no effort to hide how much this victory meant to him…
“I want to tell you all this… I would rather have lost with you than won Srbijada with anyone else. What we built here isn’t just a soccer team—it’s a family! Thank you for that!” said an emotional Kolar.
A somewhat calmer captain and coach, Vanja Jovović, called the boys together and said:
“Thank you all for the fight and for believing in the win. We waited for this trophy, and now we’ve finally won it. Let’s keep it in our trophy case next year, and the year after that!” His words were met with loud cheers from our boys—our champions!
And after their performance over these two tournament days in extreme heat, any outcome other than a Dinara victory would have been undeserved.
Quality and a Vision That Guarantee Future Trophies
Quite simply, they were the best—dominating technically, creating chances, scoring and missing, but most importantly, stringing together victories.

That superiority of “Dinara” at the largest festival of Serbian soccer in the diaspora was recognized by many soccer connoisseurs on and off the fields at the Indiana Elite Soccer Club.

In addition to the championship trophy, our own Messi—our genius William Alfredo Noriega Garcia, affectionately known to everyone as Pepi—was named MVP of the entire tournament, a title he more than deserved.
Most importantly, what promises that the Black-and-Whites will bring many more trophies to Indiana in the future is precisely the point highlighted after the match by president Vasil Kolar: this squad has grown beyond a soccer team to become a family!
A Word About Our Veterans, Without Whom None of This Would Be Possible
Finally, we must specially highlight our +30 team, which served as the foundation of this club for a long time and won all of Dinara’s previous trophies. They suffered an unfortunate 1:0 defeat in the final against Morava.

There were uncalled penalties and undeserved red cards, but we’ll set those aside for now—because the boys fought heroically and defended Dinara’s honor with pride!

Title Celebrated with the Kids from Kosovo and Metohija
It was our special pleasure last night to celebrate the title and sing patriotic songs alongside children from Kosovo and Metohija—special guests at this year’s Srbijada and members of the FK “DIF” club from Kosovska Mitrovica.
